Earth Day Celebration at a kindergarten

Within the framework of a joint project, on April, 22 U.S. Embassy representatives Public Affairs Officer Cynthia Whittlesey and Public Affairs Assistant Magda Magradze together with more than 10 FLEX alumni led by Anna Kurdghelashvili ’07 planted flowers, provided face-painting, colored pictures of animals, plants, and created posters together with children.  The FLEX alumni and U.S. Embassy representatives brought plants in pots for each group of kindergartners and donated twoboxes of books related to Earth Day for the kindergarten library.

Mikheil Matcharadze, FLEX ’07, who was very actively involved inorganizing the event said: “I have received the biggest pleasure from the activity.  The children are so cute!”  Anna Kurdghelashvili, FLEX ’07, who was in charge of organizing the activity, was very happy with the outcome of the project.  “We will come back to visit the children and the flowers that we’ve planted from time to time,” – Ana said.

It is important that this was the first activity of its kind ever held at this kindergarten.  Despite this, the children took great interest and actively participated in the Earth Day celebration.  The event was covered by two Georgian national radio stations.
